It’s easy for us to stay inside our box of
familiarity. We feel safe and secure with what is going on and everything we
are doing becomes comfortable. I use to think that this routine of being
comfortable was what I should strived for, but as that happened I realized this
was also a feeling a contentment. I don’t say this in a condescending way where
content stands for something bad, however, in my life, it became a state that
prompted a particular question- am I getting a little too comfortable? I decided
to start a goal that stemmed me away from this ease and simplicity. I began to
learn that branching away from that status quo, in which we maintain things the
way they are, is a ride that is unbeatable by any means.
The status quo, or to maintain things the way
that they are, becomes routine for us individuals as we are intimidated to step
away from what people are typically experiencing and what most find “acceptable.”
I can admit I’ve found myself taking the easy way out in life and continue on
the same route, easily swayed by others opinions and nervous for what the
future unfolds. However with embracing more challenges and obstacles that come
our way we begin to utilize potential within that we never would have known
existed.
So why not change up the next 24 hours we are
presented with. Prepare the next day by asking ourselves - should I be doing
more? What scares me? And what can I do tomorrow that will be different than
today? And whatever those answers might be, strive for it to be something
you’re not at ease with yet, go face that fear and get comfortable with the
uncomfortable. The higher you climb the higher you will see. If we stand at the
bottom of the mountain day after day not only will we grow tiresome of the view,
but also we will never know what is on that other side awaiting our arrival and
what personal legend we may have in store.

So hey, it’s time to accept change and
realize doing that same thing we did yesterday will only reveal the same results.
We must risk the discomfort of failure and remember that in order to succeed we
must fail – fail fast and big. It’s an
inevitable path of life and it’s simply a matter of embracing it. We must look like fools and continuously
remind ourselves that the biggest risk is not taking risks at all. We are in
the age of continuous change and while stepping out of our comfort zone and
risking failure might be intimidating, it will move us onto the road to
greatness and toward the ability to be much bigger than who we may have ever
thought we were.
