| MT. SOLEDAD - SAN DIEGO |

When we're in a bind it's hard to see the positive moments. Somehow all that is "crashing down" seems to completely cover any of the good that may be in our lives. These moments where fears are emerging and anxiety may pour in are the good times to be grateful. It becomes the times where instead of focusing on what may have us stuck, focus on what doesn't.

With college coming to a close and decisions to be made it's inevitable "stuck moments" will occur. However, without these moments life just wouldn't go round would it? They are stepping stones and learning blocks to learn from, however it doesn't mean they have to out shine the beauty surrounding us in every little way. It sounds simple to be grateful each and every day of our lives, however it's been proven that gratitude doesn't just come natural. We must focus and work hard on it. I've recently started a gratitude journal and it's just been one of the helpful way to get out of a frustrating bind. Each and every day, no matter how hard its raining (literally…and figuratively) I've realized there is a new perspective that can be taken on. It's a matter of recognizing what we are grateful, aknowledging it and appreciating it. It's a matter of realizing that when we complaint it's definitely close to looking at only the ugly sweater on the rack and missing the five beautiful ones around it.

A Tedx Talk recently reminded me of an important act of gratitude.  "Respond like its the first and last day of your life, for then you will have spent the day very well." When was the last time you checked out the array of colors walking down the street, offered to us for pure enjoyment? Look at the sky. Look at the beach and check it out -- there are so many nuances that we easily over look because we have our eyes and ears plugged into our phones. We tend to neglect our ability to be stimulated by the natural beauts and frankly...feast upon digital images instead.

So for a good ol' monday matters, I encourage you to write down five things you're grateful for today, and then tomorrow, and for another 19 days until it becomes a habit.

xx

Monday Matters.
